Job Summary 


The focus of this key position is to manage all activities that occur within the manufacturing site. The Plant Manager operates effectively as a leader with direct responsibility for manufacturing and key support process operations. The Plant Manager leads through a culture of performance monitoring, review and action, open communication, employee involvement, and continuous improvement in support of achieving the organization’s mission and objectives. The job focuses on ensuring continuous improvements in the areas of quality, customer service, safety, efficiency, and financial profitability. This position will be an executive working position and long hours should be expected.


Job responsibilities


1)  Constantly monitor the overall plant process.


a)  Managing the plant environment to maximize efficiencies while continuously driving improvements in the areas of profit, project ROI, process automation, and effective use of all operational employees.


b)  Liaising with all operational departments (QA, supply chain, maintenance) to meet daily plant KPI.


c)  Continually evaluate processes and methods and recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment, performance, utilization, management of people, and quality of product and customer service.


2)    Health, Safety, and Quality


a)    Carrying out monthly safety inspections as per QHSE policy and take corrective actions related to areas of concern.


b)   Set both SOP and GMP standards and continuously monitor and improve the set standards.


c)   Sound knowledge, experience, and implementation, of ISO, BRC, HACCP, SQMS and YUM audit requirements.


d)   Maintain and continually improve the company Food Safety system to meet the highest international standards.


e)   Review and advise on all training plans related to Health, Safety and Quality to make sure they meet both the staff and business needs.


f)    Providing and maintaining a “Safe Working Environment”


g)    Ensure that procedures for housekeeping are implemented, maintained & audited


3)    Innovation


a)    Create a framework for continuous improvement of the products produced on the plant lines and optimize equipment potential through innovative products to maximize line profitability.


b)   Continuously look for new areas of innovation that will add value to the overall business.


4)   Production Planning


a)   Implementation of shift plans with an emphasis on production lines’ utilisations and efficiencies.


b)   Planning of resources to meet production goals.


c)   Ensure plant performance KPIs are met.


d)   Evaluate yield, labor, and utility variances and submit monthly reports.


e)   Manage expenditure and consumable raw material usages


5)   People Development


a)   Develop a strong leadership team, and overall plant team to ensure delivery of the required business demands and results.


b)   Identify critical positions and ensure adequately trained staff are in place to maximize plant efficiencies and production.


c)   Develop yearly training plans along with HR and conduct yearly appraisals of key team members as part of their ongoing personal development.


d)   Proactively lead and support the team to meet the required operational standards


6)   Budgeting


a)   Develop, execute, and maintain the budget for the manufacturing operation.


b)   Controlling the monthly budget on an operational level.


c)   Manage variances in the budget on a monthly basis.


d)   Calculate shift optimization and staffing.


e)    Manage raw material costs.


f)     Plan, initiate and put into operation plant improvement projects on time and on budget as per the yearly CAPEX budget.


7)   Communication


a)   Conduct daily, weekly and monthly meetings with all key personnel to communicate key business targets, areas of concern, and areas of improvement.


b)   Support HR with all employee grievances, disciplinary procedures, and formal investigations.


c)   Communicate in a clear and methodical way both to employees, management, and all key senior group management as and when required.


 


MINIMUM TRAINING, QUALIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED


·  Minimum 5 years of management experience in a Plant Bakery Production Environment.


·  Solid understanding of HACCP and Food safety standards (ISO, BRC, SQMS, YUM) and procedures.


·  People management, problem-solving ability, hands-on leadership and high work standards are of prime importance.


·  Computer literate (MS Office, Excel, ERP systems)
